Subjective Score of Zero

For subjective score items, appraisers are asked to supply their own opinion on what the team presents.  The score for the item is the average of the individual appraiser scores.

A noted exception to this is when the item being scored is not present.  For example, a team only has one Team Choice Element when the challenge required two.  In this case the appraisers must all agree that the item was not present and they must all give it a score of zero.

This is known as a subjective-score-of-zero.  The software scoring the tournament will detect any subjective score is zero and require all appraisers scoring that item to have also entered a zero.
