DI currently has 2 scoring programs.

  • a java-based app known as the Classic Scoring Program
    • Advantages
      • can enter appraiser scores from paper score sheets
      • can collect appraiser scores from the Mobile Client
      • handles more complex advancement rules
      • has a wider variety of reports
    • Disadvantages
      • needs to be downloaded and installed on a computer each year
      • understands challevs but not rooms at the tournament
      • does not track changes to teams or appraisers in real-time (you need to re-import scores)
      • you need to track updates to the app
  • a web-based app known as the Web Scoring Program
    • Advantages
      • requires no installation - it is a web-based app
      • bug fixes are handled by restarting the app
      • can view tournaments using either rooms or challevs
      • responds to real-time changes to team status and appraiser scores
    • Disadvantages
      • no score entry from paper score sheets - you must use the Mobile Client
      • handles only simple advancement rules
      • fewer reports

The links below illustrate basic usage of each of the scoring program.  Both assume that appraisers will be scoring teams using the Mobile Client (more than 90% of DI's tournament use the Mobile Client).  If your appraisers will be recording scores using paper score sheets, using the Classic Scoring Program in this fashion is NOT covered here.
